Once upon a time, I foolishly decided to become an engineer and even more foolishly decided to go to grad school (for 5 more years, no less). During the stressful era of getting my PhD, I discovered that baking was the perfect meditative escape. And that was how a passion was born.

It was only later on in life that I became more connected with my roots and came to appreciate the complexity and beauty of Vietnamese cuisine. From the nostalgic scents of my parent’s kitchen to the beautiful plated dishes at my aunt’s restaurant, I had an awakening that left me with such pride in my culture and its food. Here is my attempt to pay homage to Asian culture that helped shape who I am despite being thousands of miles away.
